Why Do We Support Missions?

Supporting missions and the work of the Lord across the world is important for several compelling reasons:

  1. Great Commission: Jesus, in the Bible, gave the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), instructing his followers to "go and make disciples of all nations." Supporting missions is a way of fulfilling this command by spreading the message of salvation to people in all corners of the world.
  2. Sharing God's Love: Mission work allows us to demonstrate God's love and compassion to those who may have never heard of Jesus or experienced His grace. It's an opportunity to offer hope, healing, and help to those in need.
  3. Spiritual Growth: Engaging in mission work, whether through prayer, financial support, or hands-on involvement, deepens our own faith and understanding of God's purpose for our lives. It challenges us to grow spiritually and step out of our comfort zones.
  4. Global Perspective: Supporting missions helps us gain a broader perspective of the global church and its diverse needs. It reminds us that we are part of a worldwide community of believers, fostering unity and empathy.
  5. Transforming Lives: Mission work has the power to transform individual lives and entire communities. When people encounter the Gospel and the love of Christ, they often experience positive changes in their lives, such as improved health, education, and social well-being.
  6. Eternal Impact: Sharing the Gospel and supporting missions can have an eternal impact. Through our efforts, people can come to know Jesus as their Savior, leading to the salvation of souls and the building of God's kingdom.

In summary, supporting missions and the work of the Lord across the world is vital because it aligns with the teachings of Jesus, allows us to share God's love, promotes spiritual growth, provides a global perspective, transforms lives, has eternal significance, fulfills prophecy, and demonstrates faithful stewardship. It is an essential part of living out our faith and contributing to the advancement of God's kingdom on earth.
